Deck the Halls of HCP!

We are looking for volunteers to help us Deck the Halls of HCP!

Date: Tuesday, November 25th
Time: 3:30-???
Sign-Up: A sign-up will be shared via Parent Square

This is an adults only opportunity. We have many after school activities in our gym and common areas, so there is not a safe place for kids to stay while adults are working. Thank you for your cooperation!

Reading Wall

We currently have 100 students on the HCP reading wall! Students are encouraged to make reading a part of their nightly routine. Here are some fun ways to encourage your child to read at home:
  • Pick a family chapter book to read together. Some favorites are Calendar Club Mysteries, Junie B. Jones, and Charlotte's Web.
  • Go to the local library to check out books. Pick one or two to read each night.
  • Have a grandparent, aunt, uncle or out of town friend call and read a book to your child on FaceTime.
  • Set a goal for books read each week. If you meet your goal, have popcorn or a special treat to celebrate at the end of the week.
  • Read to a pet or an audience of stuffed animals.

Our goal is for every student at HCP to have their name on the reading wall. We celebrate each Friday with fun prizes and a shout-out on morning announcements. Each reading log turned in, is a ticket to win a bike or Academy gift card at our assembly in December. Happy Reading!
